PCT Mount Pacifico from Little Rock Truck Trail

Location: Angeles National Forest

10 miles round trip with 1,700 feet of gain.

From the parking area, we will walk back up the road about 150 yards to find the signed Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). Following it west-northwest as it winds above a drainage, we climb through scrub oak, mountain mahogany, and the occasional Coulter pine. At 2.5 miles we reach a prominent saddle. At 3.0 miles we pass the seasonal Fiddleneck Spring. At 3.6 miles we pass Fountainhead Spring. At 4.3 miles we reach the saddle with Pacifico Mountain Road. Instead of the road, we will attempt the cross-country ascent to Pacifico Mountain Campground. The summit is a 20-foot boulder where we will take our lunch break. The return trip will be down a fire break to where it passes the PCT, at which point we will cross back over to the PCT for the remainder of the trip down to the cars.

Meet at 8:30 am at the Three Points Trailhead (34.343394, -117.982794). We will then caravan from Three Points Trailhead west on Forest Service Rd 3N17/Pacifico Mountain Rd/Santa Clara Divide Rd to Alder Saddle (3.8 mi). Turning right onto Little Rock Truck Trail (Forest Service Rd 5N04) we will go 1.1 miles. Directions to the Three Points Trailhead:

Take Angeles Crest Highway 9.2 miles from I-210 to Angeles Forest Highway. Turn left and drive 8.5 miles to Upper Big Tujunga Road. Turn right. Drive 9 miles to Angeles Crest Highway. Turn left and head 10.2 miles to Santa Clara Divide Rd. Turn left. The Three Points Trailhead is on the left.
