Upper Bear Creek Nude Hike

Date
08/17/2025 10:00 am - 04:00 pm

Description

The trail gently climbs 3 miles of mostly shadeless chaparral to Smith Mountain Saddle then descends 2.5 miles down to Bear Creek.  Trail maintenance crews have been working on repairing the trail down into Bear Creek but there may be some sections that are still overgrown.  Lunch down by Bear Creek.

If we have the energy after climbing Back up to Smith Mountain Saddle, we could take the steep 0.5 mile trail up to Smith Mountain (5111').

Directions:

To reach the trailhead, take I-210 to Azuza Ave (exit 40) and head north on Hwy. 39 approximately 18.3 miles to a wide parking area.  If you get to Coldbrook Campground you’ve gone 0.2 mile too far. There is a restroom, picnic tables, trash cans and a wilderness information sign.  Adventure Pass required.
